Inside the plateau of Pollara, a hamlet of Malfa, which 13,000 years ago housed the largest crater of the Aeolian Islands (1 km in diameter), is La Locanda del Postino, a small accommodation facility with 10 rooms, furnished in aeolian.
The farmhouse, faithfully renovated, overlooks the sea as far as the eye can see to the west, allowing you to see the splendid outlines of the islands of Alicudi and Filicudi.
The sea can be reached by going down a flight of steps, which leads to the "Balate" a very small fishing village built into the rock.
Here the film "Il Postino" was shot with Massimo Troisi and Philippe Noiret.
La Locanda del Postino is in possession of the Ecolabel certification issued by the European Union for the environmental policy adopted during the construction phase of the structure and the care of the environment in day-to-day management. In fact, typical local products at Km 0 are used in the preparations, plastic packaging has been abolished, electricity is produced from sustainable energy sources and rainwater is used for irrigation and drainage.
The Inn is made up of 10 rooms finely furnished in Aeolian style, equipped with mini bar, air conditioning and TV.
